Frequently Asked Questions

What height are Bi-Fold doors?

Bifold door standard sizes are usually 2090mm or 2100mm tall, only slighter taller than you'd find when fitting an internal door. Bifold door widths, however, will vary dramatically depending on your aperture, and could be anywhere from 1800mm with two-panel bifold doors, to 4800mm with up to 6 doors!

What colour Bi-Folds can I have?

Our aluminium bifolding doors are available in standard white gloss finish, anthracite grey matt (RAL 7016) and black (RAL 9005).Alternatively you can choose any of over 200 RAL colours which are available on special order.

Are Bi-fold doors made to measure?

Yes. Every home is different so our Bi-fold doors are manufactured to meet your exact requirements. In fact, we manufacture our own Bi-fold doors from our factory in Ipswich.

Can Bi-fold doors open in or out?

Yes. However, once your Bi-folds are installed, the opening direction cannot be changed. Many of our customers prefer doors to fold in because when it rains, your floors/carpet won't get wet.

What glass is used?

We offer a range of glazing options including double or triple glazing. All of our sealed units consist of Low-E coated glass on the inner pane (a unique microscopic glaze that helps minimize the amount of ultraviolet, infrared and visible light from penetrating the glass), and low iron on the outer pane ( a type of high-clarity glass which allows more light through). The spacer bar (the frame which holds the glass together) is made with warmedge and then filled with Argon gas. This slows the heat transfer across the cavity of the sealed unit, giving extra thermal insulation.

How secure are they?

Fitted with multi-point locking systems; they create an excellent barrier against potential intruders.

Do you provide a guarantee?

Yes. We offer a 10 year warranty on all our products.

Do I need planning permission?

Usually you won’t need planning permission to replace patio or sliding doors. It is worth checking with the local council if you live in a conservation area or listed property.

Can I choose a fixed door option?

Yes. Our bifold doors can operate as a single normal door, with your choice of traffic door.

Can I have blinds inside the glass of my Bi-fold doors?

Yes. Blinds installed between two panes of glass for homes and commercial properties are becoming very popular and come in a variety of colours. They can come with a pull-cord option or magnetic slider. They can even be motorized.
